PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports. The PBIS system is a school-wide approach to behavior support. It has been implemented in schools nationwide.
At Eagleview, we believe that students learn best in an environment that is safe and free from unnecessary disruption. We expect students to be responsible and accountable for their choices; exhibit care and concern for people and property; respect themselves and one another; and contribute in a positive way to their school and community.
Positive behavior support is an application of a behaviorally-based systems approach to enhance the capacity of schools, families, and communities to design effective environments that improve the link between research-validated practices and the environments in which teaching and learning occurs.
Part of the PBIS process is defining our expectations through our school motto:
S = Safety
O = Ownership
A = Actively Engaged
R = Respect
Through PBIS, we will work to create & maintain a productive, safe environment in which ALL school community members have clear expectations and understandings of their role in the educational process.
Students will be taught the behavioral expectations in both classroom and non-classroom settings. Students can then earn SOAR tickets for positive behavior on a daily basis. SOAR tickets can be used for weekly/monthly prize drawings, the SOAR store, as well as various opportunities throughout the school year.
The SOAR Store is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays before and after school from 8:15 to 8:30 and 3:30 to 3:45. SOAR tickets can be exchanged for a variety of items--see the price list on the right.
Poor behavior and/or work habits may result in these consequences at EMS:
-Review of Expectations
-Reflection Sheet #1 (completed in the classroom)
-Reflection Sheet #2 (completed in lunch detention)/parent contact
-After school detention (1 hour)/ parent contact
*Please be aware that this procedure of consequence will be enforced throughout the school, by all teachers, support staff, and administration.
