Mrs. Karissa Rytting - 7th Grade Social Studies

Mrs. Rytting earned a BS in Education in 1999 and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from UCCS in 2010.  She is currently working towards a doctorate in Educational Leadership.  Mrs. Rytting holds a professional Colorado teaching license with endorsements in social studies, language arts, elementary education, and gifted education.  When not teaching or studying, Mrs. Rytting loves music and spending time with her husband, four sons, and two cats.  She loves living in Colorado and considers teaching social studies at Eagleview her dream job!

Feb 25 - Mar 1

​This week we start off with Money Monday learning about microloans in our International Towne curriculum.  Tuesday we will begin our unit on ancient Greece.  This week we will be reading myths, designing black on red Greek pottery, and creating Greek maps.  There will be a lot of in class station work this week.  The stations will not be graded until next week, but if you are absent, be sure to find out what to make up.  Graded this week:  nothing.

Feb. 19 - 22

​This week we will review for our test on Economics and China on Tuesday and Wednesday and then take the test on Thursday and Friday.  Tuesday and Wednesday we will also learn about market, command, and traditional economies.  We will have a guest teacher all day Thursday and part of the day Friday.  Graded this week: Test Th/F.

Feb. 11 - 15

​This week we will begin with Supply & Demand for International Towne on Monday.  We'll engage in a market simulation changing the supply of apples to determine what happens to price.  ABC China Vocab books are due Tuesday and Wednesday.  Groups will have 30 minutes to finish putting the last touches on their books before turning them in.  We will also get to read myths from different regions in China.  Thursday is an all period day and we'll finish with another International Towne lesson.  Graded this week: ABC book project due T/W.  Test next week.

Feb. 4 - 8

​This week we will begin with an International Towne trading game on Monday.  Tuesday through Friday we will travel the Silk Road and finish our group Chinese vocabulary cloth book.  The test will be postponed.  Graded this week: International Towne booklet classwork graded due Thursday/Friday.  If you have missed any all period days this quarter, make sure you have made up the missing booklet work.

Jan. 28 - Feb. 1

​This week we will continue prepping for International Towne on Monday by learning about international trade and barriers to trade.  The Shark Tank invention projects are due Tuesday or Wednesday.  Thursday and Friday we will play a silk road simulation and introduce the Chinese ABC vocabulary book.  Graded this week:  Vocab quiz on T/W, Shark Tank project due Th/F.
