What inspired you to choose your career path?

My family is full of educators and lovers of language. We always joke that we can't have a family gathering without having to pull out the dictionary (or Google now!) at least once. I LOVE learning and find it exciting, and I wanted to share that same enthusiastic spark with others. When I realized that being a Talented and Gifted Coordinator was an actual job, I went back and got my second Masters degree so I could help support the unique needs of TAG students and ensure that they have the opportunity to continuously grow into awesome human beings.

What is your most memorable experience at Eagleview?

Oh, man! There are so many great memories to choose from! I enjoyed "rolling up" from 7th grade to 8th grade back when I taught Language Arts. I had about 75% of the same students, so it was great to get to spend more time with them and see them grow as readers and writers. As a WEB Coordinator and the NJHS Adviser, I enjoy seeing students develop as leaders within our building. It was also super cool to travel with our LEGO Robotics team to the World competition last year. In short, I guess my favorite memories come from seeing students grow and thrive as they come into themselves.

What are your interests outside of the classroom/office?

In my spare time, I like to read, listen to music, play games, solve puzzles, and watch reality competition TV shows like Master Chef. I also love being outdoors. I am a Gold Award Girl Scout and the leader of my daughters' troop.

How does your work at Eagleview impact student's lives?

One of the coolest things about my position as the Talented and Gifted coordinator is that I get to spend three years with my students helping them learn more about themselves so they can be self-advocates. I get to really personalize each student's instruction to give them control over their own learning--both inside and outside of the classroom. I hope that my students leave my class feeling that they have found a supportive community as well as the self-knowledge and freedom to pursue their passions.
