Overview

The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program is designed to develop the reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills of Limited English Proficient (LEP) students. English Language Learners (ELLs) attend all core content classes (some of which are co-taught with the ESL teacher) in addition to various exploratory classes. During their Lab class, students receive ESL instruction based on the Colorado Academic Standards and Colorado English Language Proficiency Frameworks. The ESL teacher regularly consults and collaborates with core teachers and counselors to ensure ELLs are successful in their courses.

District Resources

The district-wide ESL department provides various opportunities for families from around the entire district to get together to celebrate the beginning and end of the year, learn about subjects requested by parents, and to ask questions about the program. Translators are available to assist those attending parent-teacher conferences, as well as the district get-togethers.
